Renovations and extensions in Tamworth
Love where you live but not how your home works? We renovate kitchens and bathrooms, add extensions, build decks and rework layouts across Tamworth - so your home suits the way you live now, without the cost and upheaval of moving.

Kitchen renovations
The kitchen is the busiest room in most homes, so when the layout doesn't work, you feel it every day. We start with how you actually use the space - where you prep, where the kids drop their bags, where people gather - then plan the layout, storage and lighting around that.
A kitchen renovation can be a refresh (new doors, benchtops, splashback and tapware) or a full rebuild with a new layout, island bench or butler's pantry. Keeping plumbing and power where they are usually keeps costs down. Moving them is sometimes worth it if the old layout never worked. We'll show you both options.

Bathroom renovations
A good bathroom comes down to the parts you can't see. Waterproofing, falls to the drain and ventilation are what stop leaks, mould and timber damage years down the track, so we never cut corners there.
We do full strip-outs and rebuilds of family bathrooms, ensuites and powder rooms - walk-in showers, wall-hung vanities, niches, new tiling and better lighting. In older homes we check for asbestos in wet-area linings before demolition starts, and deal with it safely if it's there.

House extensions
Need more room but don't want to leave the street, the school zone or the block you love? An extension adds bedrooms, a bigger living area, a new ensuite, a home office or a second storey, without the stamp duty and agent fees of moving.
The trick is making it look like it was always there. We match rooflines, cladding and floor levels, and plan the drainage for the extra roof area. Rear extensions that open the kitchen and living area onto a deck or the backyard are the most popular in Tamworth, but we also build side extensions and second storeys where the block is tight.

Whole-home and heritage renovations
From a staged room-by-room refresh to a full gut-and-redesign, we can bring an older home up to date while keeping what makes it special. That includes Federation homes, weatherboard cottages and farmhouses, where the job is to modernise without losing the character.
One of our clients put it this way after we replaced the verandah and decking around their 80 year old farmhouse: they wanted it to stay in keeping with the house, and it's now "the main feature of our home".
Decks, verandahs and pergolas
Outdoor living is a big part of life in Tamworth, and a well-built deck gives you somewhere to sit on summer evenings, catch the winter sun and entertain without cramming everyone inside.
What affects the price of a deck: size, height, material, stairs, balustrades, roofing, site access and whether an old deck needs removing first. Raised, roofed or boundary-close decks may also need approval.

Deck repairs and restoration
If the frame is sound, replacing boards, fixing stairs and handrails, and re-oiling can bring an old deck back for far less than a rebuild. We'll tell you honestly which way to go.
Renovation carpentry
James trained as a carpenter and our two crews do their own carpentry, so we're not waiting on subcontractors for the work that holds a renovation together.

Structural carpentry
Wall removal, beams and lintels, reframing for open-plan layouts, subfloors, bearers and joists, roof framing for extensions, and replacing rotten or termite-damaged timber. Structural work is built to Australian Standards (AS1684 and the NCC) and isn't a job for a handyman.
Finishing carpentry
Doors, skirting boards, architraves, built-in shelving and wardrobes, window installation and wall linings - the details that make a renovation look finished.
Signs you may need structural repairs: sagging floors, cracks around door frames, doors that suddenly stick, or water and termite damage to timber.
How a renovation works
Look and listen
We visit, look over the house and talk through what's not working, what you'd like and what you've got to spend.

Plan and price
We firm up the layout and materials with you (or your architect), sort any approvals, and give you a fixed price once the scope is agreed.

Build
The work is staged to keep disruption down, and you'll know what's happening each week.

Finish and hand over
We walk through it with you, fix anything that isn't right, and leave it clean and ready to use.

Living at home during the work
Plenty of our clients stay put while we renovate. We'll tell you up front which rooms will be out of action and for how long, plan around kids, pets and water or power shutdowns, and keep the dust contained. For bigger jobs, we'll be honest if moving out for a stretch would make life easier.

Renovations and Extensions FAQs
Do I need council approval?
Not always. Cosmetic work usually doesn't, but structural changes, extensions and raised or roofed decks often do. We'll tell you what applies and handle the application.
Can I stay in the house while you work?
For most staged renovations, yes. We plan the work so you keep a usable kitchen or bathroom wherever possible.
Do you offer fixed-price contracts?
Yes. Once plans and scope are agreed, you get a fixed price so you can budget with confidence.
Do you do small jobs?
Depending on how busy we are, yes - deck repairs, wall removals and carpentry jobs included.
How long does a deck take to build?
Most residential decks take one to three weeks, depending on size, materials, weather and approvals.
Should I extend or build a granny flat?
An extension suits connected family living and tighter blocks. A granny flat suits independence, rental income and bigger backyards. We'll help you weigh it up for your block.
